,Introduction


The purpose of this report is to examine a relationship that is researched in the company
named Auto-Car Ltd. Auto-Car Ltd. is a Dutch based international automobile company,
founded in 1979. It trades automobile accessories such as brake lathe and strut compressor. In
the past few years, Auto-Car Ltd. concentrated on merchandise effectiveness and business
authority among the automotive industry. Auto-Car Ltd. has global subsidiaries, including
Auto-Car International T.N., pinpointed in Groningen.


Lately, the company’s headquarters realized that the level of organizational commitment
within the employees appears to be declining. Considering that now the main focus of the
company is to distribute services, the employees are an essential component in the
organization. As a result, the human resources department needed to investigate the
organizational commitment, bearing in mind that most of the employees left or could no
longer identify themselves with the organization. Additionally, Auto-Car Ltd. wanted to
examine if the distinction in age and employees seniority within the organization impact their
feeling and reaction towards the used management techniques. The performance of the
employees in the automobile brand is declining and Auto-Car Ltd. inquired us as advisors to
research the connection between the factors and to help them deal with these issues.


In order to examine this relationship, we will first state what the problem in the company is,
which will help us to come up with our research question. Secondly, we will present our
conceptual model and hypotheses. All the variables of the conceptual model will be
organizationally and operationally defined. Then we will present the 3 indicators for each
variable of our conceptual model which will help us focus on important points in our survey.
Lastly, we will present our survey.

, The situation: problem statement


Situation :
Auto-Car Ltd. is a company selling automobile equipment to businesses (B2B) through
telephone prospecting.
The manager wants to increase his employees’ organizational commitment, he has recently
noticed that a lot of them have left and started working for a competitor who has different
managerial techniques. The employees who left for the competitor worked in telephone
prospecting.
He made a survey and his current employees told him that they would like to implement a
reward system, and they would like to have more autonomy.
The manager wants to know if this would increase their commitment to his organization.


Research question


What are the factors influencing the organizational commitment of employees ?


Sub-Research questions


1)​ Does the implementation of a reward system improve employee commitment ?
2)​ Does a higher level of autonomy at work improve organizational commitment ?


Our Conceptual Model


In order to address the decreasing organization effectiveness, we have created a
conceptual model which represents appropriate variables that might eventually improve the
performance within the organization.


As indicated in the model below, our independent variables are reward system and
autonomy. We believe that they will have a beneficial impact on our dependent variable -
organizational commitment. We decide to use age and employee seniority as our control
variables to follow up the research. The reason states for the fact that we would like to justify
if there are any variances between the chosen factors.
