"Non Patient Related Tasks" in Regards to PT Aide - ANS--observation of the patient,
transport of the patient, support only during gait and transfer training, housekeeping duties,
clerical duties, and similar functions.
"Patient Related Tasks" in Regards to PT Aide - ANS--PT service rendered directly to the
patient by an aide, excluding "non patient related tasks"
After filing PT license application a candidate may... - ANS--from the date of application to
the date license is received,
perform as a PT under the direct and immediate supervision of a PT licensed by the state.
-Shall refer to themselves as "physical therapy license applicant"
- if PT does not qualify (i.e. does not pass written exam) all PTLA privileges shall be revoked
Aide supervision - ANS-- At all times under the orders, direction, and immediate supervision
of the PT.
-PT shall provide continuous and immediate supervision of the aide.
Shall be in the same facility as, and in proximity to, location where aide is performing patient
related tasks.
-shall be readily available at all times to provide advice or instruction to the aide.
-Supervising PT must at some point during the treatment day, provide direct service to the
patient as treatment for the patients condition, or further evaluate and monitor patients
progress.
Any person not licensed by the board calling themselves "PTA"... - ANS-is guilty of a
misdemeanor
Any PT who has received their doctorate may... - ANS-- *in written communication* use
initials DPT or PhD of EdD as applicable following licensee's name
-*in written communication* use title "Doctor" or "Dr" preceding their name if it is immediately
followed by an unabbreviated specification for doctoral degree held
-*in spoken communication* while engaged in the practice of physical therapy, use the title
doctor preceding their name if they immediately specify they are a physical therapist.
Applicant from another state may be required to pass... - ANS-- oral examination by the
board and file a statement of past work activity
Applicant from foreign school must... - ANS--provide documentary evidence to prove they
have completed the equivalent professional degree. The education shall meet the criteria set
forth, and applicant may be required to submit documentation of their education to a
credentials evaluative service for review.
-pass the written examination
-complete a period of clinical service under direct and immediate supervision of licensed PT,
which does not exceed 9 months. applicant should have passed the written examination first.
-may be required to pass an oral examination and file a statement regarding previous work
activities.
**if the board does not deem the applicant eligible for PT license, they may be eligible to
take PTA licensing examination.
Applicants who are eligible to work PTLA - ANS-- recent graduates, prior to taking exam
immediately following graduation
, -applicants transferring from another state
Applicants who are ineligible to work PTLA - ANS-- applicants who have failed to pass the
licensing exam
- applicants who passed the licensing exam but were denied license
Applicants' Qualification - ANS-must be:
- over 18 years of age
-not addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance
-successfully completed education and training required
-not committed any crimes constituting grounds for denial of license
Application and License - ANS--Each application shall be accompanied by a fee, signed by
the applicant, and shall contain a statement under oath of facts entitling the applicant to
receive a license without examination or to take an examination.
Appointments to the board - ANS--*Governor appoints*- 1 public member, and 4 PT
members
-*Senate Rules Committee*- 1 public member
-*Speaker of the Assembly*- 1 public member
Board Employees - ANS--Clerical assistants and other employees it may deem necessary to
carry out its powers and duties. Except sections 159.5 (Health Quality Investigation Unit)
-PT consultants to assist with programs and on an intermittent basis
Certification to Penetrate Tissues for the Purposes of Neuromuscular Evaluation - ANS-a PT
may, upon specified authorization from a surgeon perform tissue penetration for the purpose
of evaluating neuromuscular performance. Provided the PT is certified by the board to
perform tissue penetration and the PT does not develop or make diagnostic or prognostic
interpretation of the data obtained.
Commissioner on Examination - ANS-Board may appoint. Does not need to be a member of
the board, but subject to the same rules and regulations and entitled to the same fees as
members.
Compensation - ANS-provided per diem and compensations per section 103
($100/day of duties and travel and expenses incurred while performing official duties)
confidentiality of records of diversion program - ANS-- all records are confidential and not
subject to discovery or subpoena
Continuing education - ANS-- a person renewing their license will submit proof of required
continuing education completed in the last 2 years. Required continuing education will not
exceed 30 hours every 2 years.
Corporation Name - ANS-The name of the PT corporation and any name(s) under which it
may render professional services shall cantina the words "physical therapy" or "physical
therapist" and any wording or abbreviations denoting corporate existence
criteria for acceptance in diversion program - ANS-- licensed as a PT/PTA and resident of
Ca
- found to abuse dangerous drugs or alcohol which may affect their ability to practice safely
and competently
- voluntarily requested admission to the program or shall be admitted following disciplinary
action
- participant shall agree to undertake medical pr psychiatric examination
- cooperate with the program by providing medical information, disclosure authorizations,
and release of liability
- agree in writing to cooperate with all elements of the treatment program
Delinquency fee - ANS-No more than 50% renewal fee
