Re: Mentor Process Final Exam
Final Exam
For my final exam, I have chosen to describe a process I would follow to mentor an eight-person
team at Something Bleu Wedding & Event Planning.
Stage 1: Beginners Stage
- Right away on their first day of mentorship, I would have a discussion with them of why
they wanted to be here. I think it is very important to open up the room and see who will
speak up and who will not.
- I would have them then create a presentation on their own of an event that they would
want to have. Details should include what they would have, how many people, catering,
decor, etc., as if they were to show it to a client. They would then present it.
Stage 2: Teamwork Building
- I would have them choose their own teams and do a presentation together, promoting a
venue of their choosing and presenting it in front of their teammates as if they are their
clients.
- For the first event, their sub-team assignment will be to help with different aspects of a
wedding. One will work in the kitchen, one as a server, one as a help to the photographer,
etc., with different jobs. This will be their first sub team assignment to see how they do.
, - After their sub-team assignment, they will have a discussion about the best and worst
parts of the job that they had and will explain it to the others. They will take notes and
decide which part they would like to do during the next sub-team assignment.
Stage 3: Teamwork Building Continued
- As a team, they will need to go and tour a venue all together. This will be their first team
project. They will need to talk to staff, take pictures and get reviews from customers.
They will then need to work on each aspect together, putting all of their resources into
one booklet and if it is good enough, will be sent into the office as an option for clients
when they come in.
- The team will split up into different pairs and will go out networking. They will go to
different bridal shops in the area to promote the company and meet some potential new
clients, because some people get the dress before they book the venue. This can be very
useful and one of the ways to get clientele. They will then create a presentation on what
approaches worked and what did not, and if they thought they would have more success
together or separately.

- Each individual will create a presentation themselves on their strengths, weaknesses and
goals they feel as though they have in the industry so far and present it. This will also
turn into a discussion after, talking about the strengths and weaknesses many will have in
the industry, as well as goals they feel are important to hit. Notes should be taken during
this discussion.
