, The Human Body
The human body is a complex organism. The study is
divided into 2 distinct but related areas: anatomy and
physiology
Anatomy and physiology are how the body works and how it is
put together.
Connected relationship; body has various parts (anatomy) that
function (physiology) together to operate the body
Anatomy = study of the structure and shape of the body, its
parts and their relationship
Physiology = study of how the body and the parts function
Structural Levels Of Organization
The body has 6 levels each consisting of different parts:
Chemical= atoms combined to form molecules
Cellular= molecules combined to form cells
Tissue = similar cells combined to form tissues
Organ = different tissue types combine to form an organ
Organ System = different organs working together
Organismal = many organ systems working together
