Define beneficence: - ANSWER-it is the central obligation of healthcare providers to
care for the health and well-being of the individual above all else. Do no harm.
Define fidelity: - ANSWER-interpreters must remain faithful to their roles, meaning they
must remain faithful to the original message as they converts messages from the OG to
the target language
Explain the importance of respecting culture and cultural differences -
ANSWER-"Language serves as an expression of the ways that a culture organizes
reality."
First, interpreters must know the words being used and their underlying cultural
meaning. Second, they must always be aware that cultural differences in perspectives
and alternate views of the world can lead to critical misunderstandings and
miscommunication.
Define standards of practice: - ANSWER-help navigate the gray areas (where u might
feel confused about what to do or how to act); also known as the tasks and duties the
interpreter should be able to perform in the course of fulfilling the duties of the
profession (how to do it)
