Fire Chief - ANSWERThe Chief Administrative Officer of the Fire Department. Has the powers and duties enumerated in Charter Section 522 and is responsible for administering the Fire Department in accordance with Article V of the City Charter. RESPONSIBILITY Has the power and duty to: A. Appoint, discharge, suspend, transfer, or issue instructions to members of the Department in the line of their duties, subject to the civil service provisions of the charter. B. Expend the funds of the Fire Department C. Recommend to the Board an Annual Departmental Budget covering the anticipated revenues and expenditures of the Department. D. Certify expenditures of the Department to the Chief Accounting Employee. E. File with the Board at least once a month a written report on the activities of the Department. F.
