acute blood loss, hypovolemia, milk metabolic acidosis, salicylate overdose. This
solution contains potassium-- DO NOT use in patients with renal failure, liver
disease, and do not use if pt pH is greater than 7.5


D5 1/2 NS (hypertonic) - answers-Used for DKA after initial treatment with NS and
1/2 NS prevents hypoglycemia and cerebral edema --ONLY use in pt with DKA
when glucose falls below 250
