Topic 4 DQ 1
How are classroom procedures different from classroom rules? Why are both important to
classroom management and student achievement?
The difference between classroom rules and classroom procedures is that rules tell the students
what they can or cannot do and procedures show them how to do something and communicates
the teacher’s expectations. Classroom rules and procedures that are clearly defined and visible
help students understand what appropriate classroom behavior is, and what is not. They also
establish the consequences for violating the rules. Establishing classroom rules and procedures
helps teachers to maintain class routines and student expectations for behaviors and classwork.

How is classroom management similar and different across the various grade levels -
primary (K-3), elementary (4-6), and middle school (7-8)?
Here are the similarities from Primary level, Elementary level and in Middle Level:
As a teacher, we have one common goal in teaching different levels of students.
First, we generally concerned about imparting knowledge to our students. We teach not just for
the salary but we teach because we have the main objectives to be able to learn by the learners.
Second, we learn and open for suggestions and opinions of the students. For us teachers, it is
important to broaden our minds to be able to catch up with students likes and dislikes. We have
to show our "cool side" sometimes to be able to ride with student's interest to lighten the mood
inside the class. With this, it will lessen the fear of the students and the teacher would also know
