2. Arc Flash Hazard
ANS A dangerous condition associated with the possible releaseof energy caused by an electric
arc
3. Arc Rating
ANS The value attributed to materials that describes their performance toexposure to an
electrical arc discharge.The arc rating is expressed in cal/cm^2 andis derived from the
determined value of the arc thermal performance value (ATPV) orenergy of breakopen threshold

(E BT) (should a material system exhibit a breakopenresoponce below the APTV value). Arc
