○ What it is?
§ Personality is defined as an
individual’s characteristic pattern of
relatively permanent thoughts,
feelings, and behaviors, that define
his or her quality of experiences and
relationships
○ When is it unhealthy?
§ Considered unhealthy when
interpersonal and social relationships
and functioning are consistently
maladaptive, complicated, or
dysphoric
○ Can it change?
§ They continually evolve across the
lifespan
• Personality disorder:
○ When personality traits become
inflexible & rigid = maladaptive
patterns of behavior & functional
impairment
, ○ Divided into 3 clusters
○ Often co-occur with other mental
health Dx(Depression, Anxiety,
Eating & Substance Use Disorders)
