• It defined the Allied goals for the post-war world

trade restrictions, freedom of seas, freedom from fear and want
• Supports of the Atlantic Charter signed the Declaration by UN on 01/01/1942, which became the basis fo
modern UN
• The Atlantic Charter set goals for the post-war world and inspired many of the international agreements t
shaped the world
• The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10/12/1948
• It was the result of the experience of WW2 – aim was to never repeat atrocities
• The bill of rights was finally agreed and signed by 1948
• Much debate had taken place to ensure that the bill was not only representing ‘western’ ideal and values
