Ans. Greg‟s Principal sent a letter just a warming that he might
fail in Maths if he did not study more seriously.
b) How did Greg‟s father react to the letter?
Ans. Greg‟s father was upset about his poor efforts in Maths and
threatened him to restrict his playing basketball for the team
named scorpions.
c) Describe the building that Greg entered.
Ans. It was an old tenement that has been abandoned for some
month. The building was graffiti-scarred and had a musty
smell. Inside, there were various items like a pile of rags,
and a broken couch.
d) What did Greg first notice about the man he met in the building?
Ans. Greg noticed that the men he met in the building was an old
black man wearing cracked dirty shoes, heavily wrinkled
face, dressed in rags with a halo of crinkly white hair and
whiskers.
e) How did the man treater him?
Ans. The man threatened him (Greg) with a razor, claiming it was
sharp enough to “cut a week into nine days”.
f) Where did Greg seen the man before?
Ans. Greg had seen the man before, picking through the trash on
the corner and pulling clothes out of a Salvation Army box.
g) Why was Lemon Brown known as sweet Lemon Brown?
Ans. Lemon Brown was known as sweet Lemon Brown as he
used to be a blues singer and harmonica player, known for
singing even the blues sweetly.
