body and protects us from microbes,
helps to regulate our temperature,
and allows sensations of touch, heat
and cold.

Skin has three layers: the epidermis,
dermis, and hypodermis or
subcutaneous tissue.

The colour of skin is determined by
cells in the epidermis called
melanocytes which produce melanin.
