M3 Assess ways of achieving the level and types of transferrable business skills needed for
the career plan.
In this task, I will be explaining and assessing how I can develop my existing transferable skills,
comparing the level I am at right now and the level where I need to be for my future chosen career.
In addition, I will be explaining how these skills could be transferred from the college and university
to the real working environment.
Time management skills
Time management skills was and still one of the most required skills in the real life whether in the
academic life or the working environment. It is essential for me to ensure I use the most of my time
and manage it carefully, this is because during the college time, I have had to make sure that I
complete all the assignments, despite the pressures of work and social life. These skills is not just
important and useful for me in college, but it is also critical for my university life, as it is will help me
to keep on track of my course workload as well as the business world. That is the reason why I
believe this skill is very important for my lifestyle. During the college time, as Stockport College has a
huge influence on me, as it helped me to develop these skills as well as prepared me for the
following step in the university. However, there is always room to develop, and therefore these skills
will need more development throughout the university time. At the college I have learn how to
develop these skills as I learnt how manage and control my own time with my teachers advice in
order to complete all the assignments.
At the management, I feel I had developed my time management skills to a good level; however, I
still can improve and develop them throughout the university time as it will help me to make sure I
complete tasks on time and to avoid the stress and panic of the workload. A way of improving these
skills as by siting up a check list for my course work and ensure that finish the work step by step in
order to finish them all on time. These skills are essential for my chosen careers, as solicitor I will
have many responsibilities and duties to complete my work on time and ensure everything run
smoothly. This because being a solicitor means there will be many different tasks, things, and
schedules to keep on track.
Teamwork skills
In any time and place, there will be always a need to work in a team and sometime it is impossible to
complete a task by your own. This is usually happening during the academic and the workplace time,
as I might need to work with many different types of people in order to complete the task. That is
why I believe that I need theses essential skills; I also do believe that I had already gained a good
level of team working skills through the time I spend in college. As I I have needed to create many
projects, events and activities as a group and ensure that we work and help each other to
understand complete the work. As a team leader who had need to plan, organise and oversee an
event to celebrate the end of year course, I had to work with my team member to ensure the event
runs smoothly and successful. In addition, during the time I speed in class with other students, our
teacher used to split us into small groups of students, as we were not allowed to choose our friends,
this enable me to deal with different type of people and understand how these people work.
Therefore, I had learn to understand how to work with other and respect their opinions and
thoughts to create a good piece of work at the end.
These teamwork skills will be transfer with me to university; this is because during university I will
have to work with other team members to complete projects and other activities. I will be able to
