Ex. deet Distinguish between carrier, solution, suspension and emulsion - ANSWER-Solution: Substance is dissolved in a liquid. Carrier: The liquid that the pesticide is placed in ie water or oil. Suspension, large participles that are not dissovled so may need agitated. Emulsion: liquids appear separate such as in salad dressing. Emulsifiable Concentrates EC or E - ANSWER-Contain 1 or more petroleum based solvents and an emulsifying agent that allows it to be mixed with water. They are the most versitle formulations, easy to handle, transport and store with little agitation of the tank or damage to nozzles. But the high concentration of active ingredient makes it critical that it is dosed correctly, they may be flammable and dangerous to people as they can be absorbed through the skin.
