P1) Describe how marketnn techniques are used to market products in two ornanisatonss

Marketnn is advertsinn, promotnn and sellinn a product or service within a markets Marketnn is all
about identifinn, antcipatnn and meetnn the customer needss The identifinn needs are
reconnisinn what the customer wants nows Antcipatnn needs is predictnn on what the customer
wants ior the iutures Finallf, meetnn needs are to nive the customers what thef want such as nood
qualitfs Marketnn can be broken down into iour diferent techniques that beinn survival stratenies,
brandinn, relatonship marketnn and nrowth stratenies (Ansof Matrii)s

Survival stratenies are needed when the business is noinn downhill and the frm has to overcome the
problemss So the business can leave the less proftable markets, this means that ii the product is not
makinn much proft, thef can leave that market and trf another one that can mafbe increase proftss
Another stratenf can be ii sales are not made the companf has to make staf redundants This means
that the frm has to paf its workers and let them nos An eiample oi this could be stafs irom
Blockbusters, as technolonf is improvinn most people wouldn’t be usinn CD’s as Netlii is mostlf
used to watch the latest movies and TV shows onlines Another stratenf can be that the companf can
sell of its assetss This beinn equipment such as machineries, in order to maintain their whole
business irom iallinn completelfs

The second marketnn technique is brandinns This is as simple as a frm creatnn a name, lono and a
slonans These are a must have as it’s a representaton oi the companf, as it can be stronnlf afected
bf the customer’s behaviour on the qualitf and price oi the products Brand buildinn does take a lonn
to build ups This means that the companf has to be consistent throunhout with the product qualitf
beinn at hinh standards and the same ior each ones An eiample oi this could be Nike, that has nood
qualitf with clothinn and shoes that would have customers satsfed with purchasinn anf product
irom theres Brandinn can also mean that businesses can move irom one market to another, this is
actuallf cheaper than creatnn a totallf new brand, because a new brand can be positoned into a
risk oi iailure, but ii it works then it could be a successiul quicks An eiample oi this could be when
the Virnin nroup moved to the Cola market but iailed as most customers didn’t preier it and some
didn’t even hear about it, as no one was aware oi the products

The third marketnn technique is relatonship marketnns This is when the companf creates a lonn-
term relatonship with the customers bf maintaininn the relatonship, in the lonn term the
customers would be lofal and mafbe recommend the companf's services or products to other
people, this means it could increase sales and boost profts as thef are increasinn awarenesss But
profts don’t come strainht awaf, fears oi investments with the customers is needed to make proftss
Subwaf is a nood eiample oi this, so the customers have a Subwaf card and collectnn credits ior
that means fou can net one ior iree later on afer collectnn a certain amount oi credits The opposite
oi relatonship marketnn would be transactonal marketnng this is aimed at short-term with the
customerss So thef onlf care about makinn sales one at a tme, this also means that companies who
use transactonal marketnn don't care ii new or old customers come arounds An eiample oi this
would be anf petrol staton, as thef don’t make anf sort oi relatonship, but thef onlf make sure
thef make the sales one bf ones

The fnal technique is nrowth stratenies also known as Ansof’s matriis This is a marketnn tool that
