M2 Report
Increased Frequency of Holidays
There is an increased frequency of holidays as it is cheaper to go a weekend
break or a few short breaks every year rather than a two week holiday every
year. People are going on more holidays as self-book has become easier,
allowing people to compare fight and accommodation prices and searching for
the best holiday deal which is suited for them.
There are constantly new destinations where you can book holidays to, this is
because there are always new, popular and exciting places to go and visit which
are constantly being promoted on social media. British airways have many new
routes for 2018, for example recently British Airways was the frst company who
did a direct fight from London to Australia which was only 17 hours. Easy Jet also
has new destinations where the airline is fying to: Volos, Ancona, Bastia and
Prague.
The top few holiday destinations right now are: Malta, Japan, Italy, Mexico’s
pacifc coast Bali and the 1K, there are over 8 million people fying to and from
the 1K daily.
Due to the increased frequency of holidays there is higher competition between
airline operators which result in a reduced holiday price. British airways have
slight competition from Easy jet but maintains it competitive advantage by
having outstanding service for all for its customers. Easy jet gets customers by
having low air fares but a great holiday for all.
As there are more people going on holidays every year there are more and room
kinds of board bases for accommodation: Full board, half board, Self-catering,
and All inclusive and Bed and Breakfast. Both airline providers have many
diferent kinds of the board bases as they’re accommodation range when
booking a holiday through them.
Holiday Home Ownership
Having a holiday home can have both negative and positive efects on the travel
and tourism industry. The positive efect would be that people are going to travel
abroad more often and buy fights from around their area and keep on going
over to their holiday home for a break and a holiday. If people from overseas
bought a holiday home over in the 1K it would be good for us because people
are coming over into our country and spending their money which helps our
economy, this is known as the multiplier efect. Alternatively, the negative efect
would be that people would stop using hotels for their accommodation because
as the amount of holiday’s homes being owned increases, accommodation
provider’s income decreases and they lose out on proft.
