Describe the pathophysiological changes associated with hypoparathyroidism - The most common cause of hyperparathyroidism is damage caused during thyroid surgery. In hypothyroidism a lack of circulating PTH causes a depressed serum calcium level resulting in the symptomatology mentioned in the stem.
