Apple - iPhone 7

1. How has it been marketed?

The iPhone 7 was marketed in a various number of ways. They advertised on TV with a
30 second advert. Which millions of people would have watched. They also advertised
on billboards and things like that. Many people would have walked or drove past and
seen. Apple also made a massive build up to the revel of the iPhone 7 in San Francisco
that only people that were invited were allowed to go to. This made everyone excited
and talking about the iPhone 7 and because more people are talking about it, more
people want it. Although apple more than anyone should know the number of people
that use social media. Apple did not do any promotions or advertising on social media.
millions of people go on social media daily they missed out on.

2. How effective was their marketing

The marketing was fairly effective, the iPhone 7 sold out on pre-order on the Thursday
before they were actually on sale on the Friday, so no one could just walk into Apple
on the Friday and buy the iPhone 7. This sold more than apple anticipated. Although
on the other hand they didn’t sell no where near as well as the iPhone 6 did. The
iPhone 6 took over 2% of the market share whereas iPhone 7 was only 1%. This shows
that they didn’t market there iPhone 7 as well as they did for the iPhone 6. When they
release the next new iPhone they should look into what they done so will in marketing
the iPhone 6 and what they were missing when they done the iPhone 7.

3. How does the business measure the effectiveness of marketing?

Apple measures the effectiveness of their marketing by looking at sales and profts,
they also compare it to previous fgures from iPhones. They can also listen to feedback
of customers like them saying ‘i didn’t know the iPhone was coming out’ would show
that the marketing wasn’t done very well. They can also look at sales fgures from
competition like Samsung and decide weather the iPhone 7 was effective and weather
the marketing meant that people chose Apple over Samsung.

4. What are the sales fgures?

The sales fgures show that the iPhone 7 was much better sales than the iPhone 6s
that was previously brought out a year earlier. This shows that they improved their
marketing from that previous year. Likewise it shown that the sales were loads better
than in 2015 when the iPhone 5 came out so Apple must have learnt from then and
improved their marketing technique. Although it shows that they sold more iPhone 6
than they did iPhone 7so they should look at how they marketed the iPhone 6 and
learn from this when they bring the next one out.

5. Make recommendations for improving the sales.

To improve sales Apple should consider using social media to promote their products,
this is free and loads of people these days use it. Especially the people that would buy
a iPhone is the type of people that would be on social media. Apple should do student
discount so that students can afford it better and will more likely to buy the iPhone 7.
They should use celebrity to promote the iPhone 7, because they are in the public eye
everyone will see the iPhone 7 and it will make them want to get it because the
celebrity has got it.
