Chapter 1: Introduction
Studying talk (in interaction) = the ability to use language / what it means to be
human. Taal is een fundamentele eigenschap van de mens. Taalstudie is meestal niet
het bestuderen van interactie, conversatieanalyse wel.
Ordinary conversation gaat over dagelijkse conversatie tussen vrienden, familie, of
andere conversaties die niet werk- of taakgeoriënteerd zijn. Dat is van belang omdat het
ons laat begrijpen wat de meest voorkomende manier van interactie tussen mensen
van alle leeftijden is, en omdat het de basis is voor interactie in organisaties en
institutionele settings.
Chapter 2: Understanding Ethnomethodology
Ethnomethodology (Harold Garfinkel) is an approach to sociolinguistical inquiry that
challenges the way sociolinguistics typically conceptualize and study the social world.
Het is een microsociologische beschouwingswijze die zich richt op de impliciete regels
