HCAD 750 Exam Questions and Answers 2024
HCAD 750 Exam Questions and Answers 2024. Many different reasons play a role in why the healthcare industry is perceived as being less proactive than other industries in computerized information systems. Some of the reasons include the complexity in using the systems, protecting patient information, and the exuberant cost of these systems (Latour, Maki, and Oachs 2013). One of the greatest barriers is the lack of linkage between the use of information systems, such as electronic health records (EHR) and the improvement of healthcare outcomes (Whipple, E. C., E. Dixon, B., & J. McGowan, J 2013). Because of this, many physicians have mixed feelings about using IT systems because of the cost being high, and the complexity to use the systems. The ease of access is crippling to the providers because the healthcare industry takes on abundant volumes of patient information and integrating IT systems in the workflow, that does not effect patient health outcomes, will not be met with a warm welcome. This perception can be changed by developing an EHR to be helpful assistance to the providers instead of something that is considered more work and causes disruption to the workflow process. 2. Electronic data interchange (EDI) allows the transfer of information from one computer to another by using flexible, standard formats (Latour, et al 2013). EDI is used as a type language between different healthcare entities to exchange health information electronically. These include government agencies, financial institutions, claims processors, and suppliers. E-commerce replaced the term EDI as the popularity and acceptance grew in the healthcare industry. It is used to describe all aspects of business to business and business to consumer activities, processes, and communication (Latour, et al 2013). Lastly, e-health is now to term used to describe the different types of e-commerce. EDI, e-commerce, and ehealth are all interrelated because they all refer to the same thing. The electronic exchange of information between different types of healthcare entities.
