Summary:
Winston describes his experience after leaving Mr Charrington's shop. He explains how he went to a
prison with some prole criminals, met a woman who might have been his mother, before moving to
the Ministry of Love and talking to the poet Ambleforth and his friend Parsons.

Isolation - "He did not know where he was … there was no way of making certain"
Lack of time adds to isolation and confusion - "if it had been morning when he was
brought here, it would be afternoon; or if it had been afternoon, then it would be
midnight."
