Q1. Provide two different examples of how research uses hypothesis testing, and describe the criteria for rejecting the null hypothesis. Discuss why it is important in your practice with patient interactions.
Hypothesis Testing is the mechanism used to compare two data sets by using both null and alternative hypotheses to decide. A statistical insinuation method will lead to a conclusion by referring to something concerning particular characteristics of the comparing two different independent and dependent variables. For instance, a patient’s t-test is usually used to verify the presence of a significant change or difference between two datasets. In this case, we agree that both datasets will have the following characteristics that follow a normal distribution and are independent variables. According to Nearing at el. (2020), in this case, if the level of significance is generally lower than 0.05, we will reject the traditional hypothesis and take the alternative hypothesis value as more significant than 0.05 to disqualify the traditional hypothesis. When rejecting the null hypothesis, the significance level of the findings, for example, is below 0.05 as the null hypothesis is being disqualified in support of an alternative hypothesis that indicates the observations under study have not happened due to chances. According to Xia and Sun (2017), hypothesis testing is a statistical process that tests hypotheses about a phenomenon or population parameters. This is an essential part of the scientific method, a systematic approach to evaluating theory by observation and determining whether a statement is true or false. A good theory can make accurate predictions. For predictive analysts, hypothesis testing is a rigorous way to support predictions in statistical analysis. It also identified enough statistical evidence to support a particular hypothesis regarding population parameters. This is important in our practice and patient interactions because it establishes trends and finds meaning in a given data set, i.e., makes meaningful information that can pave the way for future research.
