,1.3 The voltage over the parallel resistors will be:
A 5V
B 7V
C 2V
D 3V

1.4 The current of ONE parallel branch if the resistor offered a resistance of 0,5Ω:

A 1A
B 4A
C 1,5A
D 3A

1.5 The equivalent unit for watt is:

A joule per coulomb
B joule per second
C joule per ampere
D coulomb per second

1.6 Two waves moving in opposite directions collide with constructive interference. Wave A has
an amplitude of 2 units and Wave B has an amplitude of 0,5 units. The combined wave has
an amplitude of:

A 1,5 units
B 2 units
C 2,5 units
D 0,5 units

1.7 A ball with a mass of 2kg is released from a height of 20m and takes 1,2s to reach the
ground. If the mass of the ball is increased to 8kg the time it takes to reach the ground will:

A Increase
B Decrease
C Remain the same

1.8 A glass rod and a cloth is rubbed against each other. The glass rod becomes positively
charged. Which statement best describes the reason for this?

A The glass rod gained protons from the cloth.
B The cloth gained electrons from the glass rod.
C The glass rod lost protons to the cloth.

QUESTION 2
Two learners are pushing another learner from rest in a westward direction on a cart as seen in
the diagram below:

2.1 Define resultant force. (2)

2.2 Draw a vector diagram to illustrate all the forces on the cart. (3)

2.3 Determine the magnitude of and direction of the resultant force on the cart. (3)

2.4 If the cart is accelerating at a speed of 1,2m.s -2 determine how long it would take
the cart to complete 100 meters. (4)
[12]

QUESTION 3

Two vehicles A and B are approaching a traffic light intersection at 55km/h.
The light turns orange when they are 30m from the intersection.
Vehicle A puts on its brakes and slows down to stop at the intersection while vehicle B accelerates
at 4 m.s-2 through the intersection for 3 seconds before continuing at a constant velocity.

3.1 Define velocity. (2)

3.2 Convert 55km/h to m.s-1. (2)

3.3 Did vehicle B drive through the intersection while the light was yellow or red?
Assume a yellow light only lasts 5 seconds. (1)

3.4 Calculate the acceleration of vehicle A as it slows down to stop. (3)

3.5 Calculate the final constant velocity of vehicle B. (3)

3.5 Sketch a velocity-time graph for both vehicles on the same set of axes.
Be sure to label all the relevant values. (5)
