- mainly anxiety
- 40 McQ
- 1 case scenario
- One on eating disorders
- One on depression and suicide - likely the scenario will be on depression and
suicide
- IN the scenarios always answer and look towards the MAIN scenario and
NOT previous parts of the questions above
- NCLEX style qs
- Read application on the textbook - box on lithium toxicity
Questions on the test will look like:
● Your patient is on an MAOI which of the following would indicate what you have thought
of them. Which indicated that your patient needs help
● Questions wont be tricky but will be application
● Discharging - pre-discharge teaching and pt is an adolescent. Which of the following will
you include in your teaching
○ Should they consume it with alcohol
○ Report side effects
○ Imp as this medication can cause you to be suicidal so be careful
○ Antidepressants take 4+ weeks to work
● If you had a pt that was manic, what would be the best way to approach an assessment?
○ Ask them small questions one at a time with space in betweenn
○ Small Portions of food
○ Pay attention to the feet - feet could hurt from walking alot
○ Don’t do entire thing- ensure safety
○ Do the assessment in bits
○ Focus on communication
● When someone harms themselves what to do?
○ CHECK THEIR ABCs, don’t ask them how they feel
● Wellbutrin
○ Bupropion, sold under the brand names Wellbutrin and Zyban among others, is
an atypical antidepressant primarily used to treat major depressive disorder and
to support smoking cessation

○ Slow position changes

happened in the past or something lke that
○ Projecting their emotions.
● Displacement
○ Angry but taking out on someone else
○ Kicking a dog coz they are angry with their boss, can’t say they are angry at boss
so take it out on a dog

- Key thing: know legal status, another year thing to an involuntary patient- they can still
consent to no treatment
- Patients can be involuntary, incapable, and contesting - you can’t treat still, you have to
wait for the results from the review board
- You can always treat during an emergency though - physical altercation =
psychological emergency
- You can use physical or chemical restraints for violent patients yet need consent.

- Goudy dressing - dressing with no regard for social inclusion just wearing whatever tf
you want
- Increased sex drive
