Chromosomes are structures composed of DNA and proteins known as chromatin. Within chromatin, there is a component called a nucleosome. 2. Compare and contrast mitosis and meiosis. Both meiosis and mitosis start with only two chromosomes and involve the creation of new cells. However, meiosis does not involve crossing over and synapsis, whereas mitosis, which occurs in somatic cells, does. Mitosis produces body cells, while meiosis produces gametes. 3. Cancer is a disease related to uncontrolled cell division. Investigate two known causes for these rapidly dividing cells and use this knowledge to invent a drug that would inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The main factors influencing cell division are genetic and environmental influences. To address cancerous cells, I would develop a medication that specifically targets the receptors on those cells, preventing their replication.
