Question 1 The ensemble presented in the performance is Jazz band. According to the video there is no leader for the performance (The United States army field band, 2014). The performance features a soloist although information about their name is not available. Question 2 The name of the piece they are presenting is he moon river which was a song composed by Henry Mancini (The United States army field band, 2014). Question 3 From a sensuous plane the performance is great illustrating classic tune and excellent performance. It illustrate an excellent balance, dynamic and ideally played cool jazz music which aids in lifting ones when they feel a little hopeless. Question 4 I think the song was composed as an allegory of unpredicted currents of the life in future. I think the moon and the river are used as metaphors to illustrate the past and the future simultaneous. From an expressive point of view the song may be used to mean the transition from the past time and the journey the composer would travel from the start to finish it; thus the song represents a journey of life. Besides the song illustrates a nostalgic feeling of the composer from their childhood to the unpredicted goals and vision in the future.
