DIAGNOSTIC EAR PROCEDURES
nspection, palpation, and screening tests are used to examine the ears, and to assess hearing and balance. Always perform inspection first, using your olfactory, visual, and auditory senses. Procedures include: OTOSCOPIC EXAMINATION Inspect the tympanic membrane with a braced otoscope and palpate indirectly using a pneumatic otoscope. Hold the otoscope in your dominant hand in a “pencil hold” position, bracing a part of your hand on the skull or face.
