Sky and BT uses promotional mix when it comes to promoting television and broadband service , these
includes advertising promotion , sales promotion , personal selling , public relations , direct marketing as
well as sponsorship. The aim of promotional mix is to increase brand awareness, Increase customer’s
product knowledge, Stimulate search behaviour in potential customers, Improve brand/company image,
and Increase flexibility of image, Increase brand preference, Increase trial purchases, and Increase
repeat purchases.

Advertising promotion




For example, Sky uses social media adverts such as Facebook to promote their television and broadband
services in a channel such as ITV so that audiences who watches it channel will be able to increase the
knowledge of the products that sky is promoting however BT uses social media ads to promote their
television and broadband service on platforms such YouTube where ads appear before every video
played so that customers can increase brand awareness. Advertising is a paid form of no personal
presentation and promotion of ideas, goods or services by an identified sponsor which may include
Printed adverts, radio, television, and billboards.

Sales promotion




BT and Sky uses the method of giving out vouchers and offers to promote their television and
broadband services. For example, Sky uses the technique of sales promotion by giving out offers to their
customer such as £70 cashback offers on websites like wowcher.com for purchasing television and
broadband services so that Sky can increase repeated purchases of the product. On the other hand BT
