RTA 211: Production Theory // Dana Lee
Lecture 2:
Cameras / Framing / Video Monitors:
CAMERAS!!!!!
Lenses:
- Convex: magnifying glass with curved surface
- Converge to a single focal point
- Telephoto lens
- Concave: the opposite - glass is curved in
- Less fixed focal point
- Prime (wide angle)
- Do both? Yall get a zoom lens!
- Focal Length lets you zoom in and zoom out
- Three CCD Camera System (RGB) colour mix prism
- White balance selector
- What is white balance?
- Process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in
person are rendered white in your photo
- Proper camera white balance has to take into account the "color temperature" of
a light source, which refers to the relative warmth or coolness of white light
- Auto white/black balance
- Gain switch (ISO)
- Zebra stripe level indicator
- Filter Wheel
- Filters select
- 3200K: studio Lighting
- 5600K +1/16ND
- 5600K
- Shutter
- Smaller f stop = less depth, more light -- bigger f stop = more depth, less light
- Bars switch, scene file, viewfinder controls
- Remote control (CCU- camera control unit)
- Tripods:
- EFP heads
- Studio heads
- Light is measured in degrees Kelvin
- SDHC cards:
- GB - storage you get on the card
- Class - how fast you can write the information to the card in megabytes per second
- 8 bits in a byte!!!!
