Unit 25 Providing business support

Task sheet – P1: Business 1
Title: Report on Providing Office Support and Using Office Equipment

To: Mr Noor

From: Ismaeel Nagra

Date:4th January 2016-12th February 2016

Introduction
Describe the two businesses in terms of size, necessity of the office equipment, etc.

Regent

Regent College is a medium sized college that makes huge profits due to the amount of student buying
their products such as food, snacks and drinks from the canteen or the vending machines provided. Also,
they own a sports hall which could be used by the public. The college is partnered with these organisations
because they aim is to contribute to the wider effort to help students to make well informed and realistic
decisions about post 16 learning and future options. The population of the college includes 900-950
students and more than 50 employees, as they can’t fit all the students in the college they have timetables
with gaps so that the population within the college is balanced. The resources within the college are office
equipment as both students and staff use it to do clerical work such as creating work, printing it out, using
staples to put paper together etc.

Tesco

Tesco is a British multinational grocery and merchandise retailer, it is huge as it has many branches all over
Britain and other regions like Europe, America and Asia. Since it has spread, it has 3,146 stores across the
world and has over 310,000 employees, this shows it has grown a lot since it has opened its first store in
Middlesex. Today, it is a globally known brand that continues to thrive 90 years on. Furthermore, they have
their own rewards loyalty cards for their customers which allows them to collect points on the things they
purchase from Tesco’s stores and get rewards out of the points they have collected. In addition to this, they
have a new shopping strategy called “scan and go” which is a scanner (that can be placed on the side of
their trolleys) which scans products that go into the customer’s trolley and adds it to their shopping list, this
can be paid for at the self checkout at the end of their shopping trip. As you can see they , they have also
developed a lot which makes them the success they are today. The office equipment they will use is mainly
machinery as they would they would use a PC, laptop and tablets to do work, make notes, and do
signatures on documents this is because the company are using modern ways of doing things as traditional
ways are time consuming and takes a lot of energy.

Paragraph 1
Identify the type of support provided by each business.

Regent

Greeting visitors
In Regent College they greet visitors so that they feel welcomed to the college and it creates a first
impression for the visitor about the college. They would be greeted by the security guard and the
receptionist as they are the first people a person would see when entering the college; the reason why they
greet them is so that they are shown a friendly and warm attitude by the employees themselves. Greeting
