Explain how and why groups of customers are targeted for selected products
Apple iPhone 6S for tech enthusiasts – Tech enthusiasts are targeted through promotional
emails because they are the types of customers whom have the greatest interest in the
premium products Apple is offering and would be willing to pay more to get their hands on
the product. If Apple was to target the wrong group of customers for example teenagers, they
would lose out as a result of targeting them since most teenagers do not possess large
amounts of money in order to purchase their products.

Intel computer processors for technology based businesses –
PC/Laptop making businesses would be targeted by Intel
through business to business marketing because their products
require a processor which is what Intel offers. The general
public would not be targeted by Intel as much since not many
individuals would have the tools to make use of the product
which large computer making businesses have. Intel would target businesses such as Apple
whom require Intel’s processors so that they can make use of it in their future iPhone’s.

Tesco clothing for teens – Teenagers would be targeted by Tesco through their website.
Teenagers are targeted because most of the clothes that Tesco sells are aged towards
teenagers. On their website, Tesco displays many popular brands and trending styles of
clothes so that teenagers will get attracted to them and persuade their parents to go and buy
the product from a local retail Tesco store.

Audi A4 for business individuals – Audi target business individuals through billboards placed
near the town centre which is clever because those who drive to work will see the billboard
everyday on their way to work. Business customers are targeted because they are the very
individuals whom will possess enough money to be able to purchase Audi’s premium
products. Audi also know that business individuals will want to drive a premium car that is
professional, smart and luxurious.

Microsoft Windows 10 for IT users (Home & Business) – Microsoft will target IT users
whom possess either a laptop or a PC. This group of customers are targeted through
promotional emails from Microsoft asking individuals to upgrade their PC/Laptop to the
latest software. IT users are targeted because they are the very individuals whom are familiar
with ‘operating systems’ and are the very people whom will manage a PC/Laptop.

McDonalds Happy Meals for kids – McDonalds will target
kids for their happy meals as their ‘happy meal’ is shaped
so that is suitable for child audience. For example, they
include toys with the meals. Kids are targeted through TV
adverts showcasing the food and mostly the toys that come
with the meals. This is done so that after seeing the advert,
kids will ask their parents to go to McDonalds to get the
toys that they had seen on TV from the advert.
