P2: Explain the potential effects of five different
life factors on the development of an individual.

There are five life factors in the development of an individual and they are:

 Genetic factors
 Biological factors
 Environmental factors
 Social/economic factors
 Life style
Genetic factors
I will be talking about a genetic problem in this section and that is Psoriasis. My friend
inherited Psoriasis from his mother.
Psoriasis is a skin condition affecting about 2% of the people. This skin problem can occur at
any age and it usually comes and goes you wouldn’t be able to predict when it will come
and go. However this condition isn’t an infection it also doesn’t scar the skin. This condition
is more common to be a family history. If a parent with Psoriasis has a child that child has
around 1 in 4 chance in developing this skin condition.
There are three treatment options that is:

 Topical is applying ointments and creams on your skin.
 Phototherapy is when they expose the area with Psoriasis with ultraviolet light.
 Systemic is when they inject medicine that affects the entire body.
My friend finds it uncomfortable when he wears short sleeved shirts or t-shirts or when he
goes swimming he doesn’t like the way his skin looks and appears. It causes him some pain
on the skin itching, burning sensation and flaky skin. My friend was diagnosed with Psoriasis
at the age of 15 when he was referred to a dermatologist by her GP, his dermatologist
advised him about the treatment types that may help in his condition. As ultraviolet light
helps the Psoriasis feel smoother he attended sunbed. The cream he was give had to be
applied two times a day and this should make the skin feel less flaky and prevent the skin
from cracking.
Biological factors
I will be talking about biological factors that affect pregnant women that smoke. My friend’s
mother was a smoker when she was pregnant to her, and now my friend is pregnant and
she smokes as well.
Babies that are born from a smoking mother are more likely to be suffering from things like:

 More likely to be a premature baby
