1. Identify the five challenges faced by teachers in this article.
The article shows that teachers in South Africa today face considerable challenges
including:
Violent attacks on teachers and learners.
Lack of involvement from community members
Lack of resources and overcrowding,
Bullying and gangsterism
Poor school infrastructure and lack of properly trained security personnel
2. For each identified challenge come up with two solutions for solving the
challenge.
Violent attacks on teachers and learners.
Advancing peace education interventions in schools has proven to result in improved
attitudes and cooperation among pupils, and decreased violence. Some key principles
and approaches that are necessary: include:
promoting healthy relationships and a peaceful school culture
addressing structural and cultural violence within schools
building relationships with the communities within which schools were located
