MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF SUSTAINABLE GLOBALISATUOK. IS TRANSITION TOWNS-
local scale means easier to carry out, meets all the targets (reduce enviro deg, etc ) waste
management can’t do that all, but also ethical shopping as fashion is big industry.

REGENERATION

Def- the process of improving a rural or urban place by making positive
changes
(E.g redevelopment, renewal (improve existing buildings))

Note- A KEY ESSAY PLAN!!!- stakeholders

Evaluate how far differnt stakeholders have varying criteria for judging
the success of regeneration projects (20)

Overall - DIFFER FUNDAMENTALLY - however - nuance = most similar in
social criteria, whilst economic and environmentally they differ
Compare stakeholders within each para

, 1. Social criteria- similar

- local residents vs local council secretary national gov
- Similar- Stratford regen, improved area socially as dodnt have much of
a purpose before as derelict land, now perceptions have improved
- Local res- success as peopel think it UK’s an attractive place to live and
be/do activities in, so well being improves, after regen social cohesion
has become more important -£100 reward scheme Stratford together
campaign
- Local council- 110k jobs, 10k from Westfield alone, betetr education
(shared interest with local residents)- chobham manor
- Similar to national gov in term sof job creation- want to see
unemployment figures decrease

Eval- however- differ as national gov not only focused on social aspects (as
locals generally are), instead also has econ criteria as tehir role is to attract
inward investment and hacve enough funds to re-invest

Link- nevertheless- in terms of SOCIAL CRITERIA THEY MOSTLY AGREE

2. Economic criteria

3. Enviro criteria
