Early pregnancy - correct answer • Iodine 150microgram • Folic acid 800microgram or 5miligram for high risk women (prev NTD or Diabetes or some medications eg anti seizure) • 4 weeks prior to preg - 12/40 (folic) • Continue Iodine whilst BFing Anaemia IDA - Ferratin <15 Hb <100 - correct answer - Ferritin <15 HB<100 Px high dose iron eg 2x ferrotabs (Ferrous fumarate 65mg elemental iron) - Ferritin <15 HB>100 Px low dose Iron eg. 1x Ferrotab (ferrous fumarate 65mg elemental iron) UTI - correct answer • Asymptomatic only - Amoxicillin 250mg 3x day for 7 days • Trimethoprim 300mg 1x day @ night (avoid in 1st trimester) • Nitrofurantoin 50mg 4x day (avoid 36/40 +) • Cephalexin 500mg 2x day (least preferred option) Amoxicillin (UTI aysmptomatic only) - correct answer • 500mg 3 times day • Asymptomatic bacteriuria only • Penicillin allergy Cephalosporin/ beta lactam allergy / major reaction Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid (Augmentin) (Ecoli bacteria UTIs) - correct answer • E.coli can no longer be treated with Amoxicillin and so Augmentin is now the drug of choice. • 500 mg of amoxicillin + 125mg clavulanic acid = 625mg three times a day
