For this section of the unit, I was able to design two types of circuits using a 555 timer:
Monostable and Astable. A circuit frequently needs to trigger across certain components at a
particular moment. The simplest basic integrated circuit that could be used in this situation is
a 555 timer. Once started, the Timer can postpone responding for a predetermined period of
time. For instance, in a refrigerator door alarm, the timer will start when the door opens. After
that, the timer can gauge how long the door has been open. The alert will sound if this time
reaches a predetermined threshold.

Monostable Vs Astable
Astable and Monostable configurations exist for the 555 Timer. As soon as the monostable is
triggered, it counts the passing time and initiates the output response. The door alarm
example shows how this will only occur once.

When an output is triggered by the Astable arrangement, counting will continue until the
arrangement is turned off. Flashing lights are an illustration of this. The time between the
light turning on or off would be controlled by the timer.

Other components used in the circuits
Resistors - As name suggestions, when put in place, resistors create a path of resistance
for the flow of electrical current.
Variable Resistors - Variable resistors are the same normal resistors, however there
resistance can be changed (varied)
Switches - These mechanical devices are used in order to create (connect) or destroy
(disconnect) circuits, switches are mechanical devices.
LED - LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, and this is a semiconductor that, when voltage is
passed through, glows. These are also very durable and cost effective.
Battery- moving charge between terminals so as to supply an electric potential difference
across the two ends of a circuit
Buzzer - An output device that produces an audible noise. Because it features an integrated
circuit, the wiring must be done properly.
