Introduction
In this assignment I will be discussing how the government supports the development of e-business
generally.

The government supports E-business in many ways in order to help them to develop and run
efficiently therefore it good for the business and also good for the economy as the whole process is
going good. However the government plays a huge role in order to carry out and ensure that the e-
businesses are doing well.

Commerce Regulations 2002
In the year of 2002 the European Union (EU) had started particular requests to partners to get the E-
Commerce controls connected. This implies when setting an E-Business in the event that you offer
online for individuals to buy you should remember what the guidelines and controls are for E-
Commerce. There are a couple of imperative guidelines a business must follow, these are as follows:

Recipients
Customers that are buying products through an online has to be an explained data portraying the
product or what they have purchased also they must be how to communicate on the web.

Consumer protection distance selling regulation
Consumer protection distance selling regulation act makes sure that there is a protection to
consumers who shop by phone, mail order via the internet, and is protects the customer’s basic
information. However it’s good for development of the business because now as there are act
passed down, more customers are online being confident to order. Businesses that are using online
services to sell goods need to make sure that their consumers are safe and protected from fraud.
This could be done in many ways such as:

• Receipt/Invoice (Proof of document that states you have purchased)
• A realistic estimation of product or service arrival date/ when received.
• Complete information of what has been purchased and how much for.
• If paying by card such as debit or credit there should be protection for it.

The Electronic Commerce Regulations
The reason behind the electronic commerce regulations is to guarantee that organisations that
operates has given data required by the directive, on the off chance that they neglect to do so its
contract with the buyer may be invalid and it may be in breach of member state retail law. The
directive in charge of a selection of cases e.g. free online information services provision, and online
selling of products and services such as advertising and professional services. Businesses need to
give the terms and conditions to their customers when they create a new account that they know
what to expect from the business. This data has to be kept in a protected environment and it must
be accessible to the customer at any time.

The Sale of Goods Act
According to the sale of goods law it when a customer purchases a product inside the UK, the dealer
and the person who is purchasing the product form a legally binding contract. The Act expresses that
for the agreement to tie the products sold must meet certain criteria’s. Those criteria’s are: the
products sold must match the depiction given to customers, must be acceptable quality and that are
fit for the purpose for which they have been sold. The product must be identical to the description
