1. After watching Code of Freak (2020)., what has changed in the way that you look at disability in the film? Is there a trope, theme, or stereotype that you now think about differently? Or, do you now think about a specific film differently? If so, how? 2. Consider Stella Young’s Ted Talk “I am not your inspiration, thank you very much.” Stella Young doesn't think people with disabilities as “inspirations” for nondisabled people. Why not? And what does she want nondisabled to think about, or know about, people with disabilities? 3. In both Stella Young’s talk and in Code of Freaks, we learn directly from the voices of people with disabilities. What can we learn from listening to people who experience exclusion in our society, that we might not learn if we simply read about them? Give one example related to disability and one example related to another social category (ex. related to race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, etc.).
