FNDH 450 FINAL EXAM SPRING 2020Take home version THE GOOP LAB Kansas State University has an Honor and Integrity System based on personal integrity, which is presumed to be sufficient assurance that, in academic matters, one's work is performed honestly and without unauthorized assistance. Undergraduate and graduate students, by registration, acknowledge the jurisdiction of the Honor and Integrity System. The policies and procedures of the Honor and Integrity System apply to all full and part-time students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate courses on-campus, off-campus, and via distance learning. A component vital to the Honor and Integrity System is the inclusion of the Honor Pledge which applies to all assignments, examinations, or other course work undertaken by students. The Honor Pledge is implied, whether or not it is stated: "On my honor, as a student, I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this academic work." A grade of XF can result from a breach of academic honesty. The F indicates failure in the course; the X indicates the reason is an Honor Pledge violation. Please provide your answers to the questions below. Please use your own words (copy and pasting from the notes and other class content will not earn points for a correct answer). Additionally, please show your work where indicated. 1) For the five following statements, please indicate if they are true or false (circle/highlight). If you believe a statement to be false, please edit it to make it true. a) Nutritional assessment is a complex process, but individuals and/or populations only need to be assessed at one point in time. An individual should be assessed at any point of change in body composition especially during periods of rapid growth or change. TRUE FALSE b) Nutritional assessment involves four main types of assessment, but using biochemical assessment methods alone can adequately assess a person’s nutritional status. You need to Use all assessment methods adequately assess a person’s nutritional status. TRUE FALSE c) Nutritional assessment is used in many settings, not just in a clinical/hospital setting. TRUE FALSE d) Clinical assessment methods are often where nutritional deficiencies show up first. Dietary assessment is the first place for signs to show up. TRUE FALSE e) Some diet assessment methods have high reactivity, meaning the person changes how they eat just because they are being monitored or know what they eat is being recorded. TRUE FALSE 2) Sam has a BMI of 24.5, a waist circumference of 41 inches and suffers from sleep apnea. He reports having a job that requires him to be highly active and considers himself to be a pretty healthy eater most days. Despite this, Sam was recently diagnosed with hypertension. Is weight loss recommended for Sam? If so, please provide your justification why. BMI= Normal weight WC= Abdominal obesity by 1 I would recommend weight loss. His BMI is normal weight. WC is over 40 showing at risk for obesity and those risks that come with obesity. He has 2 risk factors for comorbidities. His sleep apnea put him in the very high absolute risk which means that he should lose weight. 3) Older adults commonly have a hump or are hunched due to osteoporosis and may have difficulty stretching out limbs or standing. How could you best gather an approximate height on an older adult with these limitations? I think the best way to correctly measure height would be to use knee height to estimate it. Since they have difficulty standing knee height was created to be used on those who have an issue with standing.
