Summary Long and Short term Alcohol effects
Drinking alcohol can have both short and long-term effects on the body. Short term effects include slurred speech, fluctuating emotions, vomiting, passing out, alcohol poisoning, and alcohol induced psychosis. Long-term effects include depression, liver damage, cancer, immune system problems, high blood pressure, nerve damage, permanent brain damage, and even family units and friendship groups can be affected by a person's alcoholism. It is important to check with your GP before consuming alcohol when taking medication for pain or treatment of mental health conditions.
