In this assignment I will be describing the type of business, the purpose and the
ownership of two contrasting organisations and then I will be describing the
different stakeholders who influence the purpose of two contrasting
organisations.
The first business I will be discussing is Fold Hill Foods. Fold hill foods is a privately
owned company which has been established for 36 years and has huge 31m
turnover. The business is owned by the Grant family who have farmed
Lincolnshire land for over 80 years. In 1979 vertical integration of farm grown
wheat into the dry pet food factory. This is because the Grant family own the
farms which is in the primary sector and the Grant family also own Fold Hill
factory which is in the secondary sector, therefore it is vertical integration. But
Fold Hill Foods is classed in the secondary sector because they import raw
materials and convert them into pet food to then sell on to retailers. What is
unique about fold hill foods is having both baking and extrusion on the same site
and they are the only factory
in the UK who do that. This
helps them cook and make
more pet food for their buyers.
They supply most grocery
stores such as, Tesco, Asda and
Aldi and they also supply pet
speciality outlets such as Pets
at Home. The business has
expanded a huge amount from
when they first started in 1979
both financially and the sheer
