Chamberlain College of Nursing HUMANITIES 303 WEEK 7 DISCUSSION.
Include the name of the show and the director. The show that I feel perpetuates the idea that television is indeed a form of art is Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan was the director and creator of Breaking Bad starring Bryan Cranston as Walter White and Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman. Explain why you think this program is art. I feel that Gilligan was able to create a show that portrayed an image to excite a viewer with its creative and raw story and gave the audience an intense experience. What impact does the example have on viewers' lives? I feel that this show made a big difference in the television industry. Gilligan wanted to come out of the normal shows with the handsome characters and playful/friendly storylines. He was able to create a character that surpassed all of the norms who made a lasting impact. What were some influences of this work? Vince Gilligan’s creation of Breaking Bad was inspired by The Sopranos and other iconic television shows. The Sopranos ended with a non-ending, which made the audience think about the show. However, Breaking Bad differs from these shows and surpassed them in one important way. This story was moving towards an ending” (St. John, 2013). Include a statement from an actor, director, or critic of the program that supports your points. In the beginning, people might have thought “Breaking Bad may have been the worst idea ever for a television show, but Vince Gilligan crafted a pilot that grabbed the audience by the collar and demanded their attention. Over the course of five roller-coaster seasons, the show never really let go” (St. John, 201
