David Alfaro Siqueiros, Mexican, 1896–1974, Echo of a Scream. One of the works of art that have made a big impression is the Echo of Screams. This piece of art was completed in 1937 by David Alfaro Siqueiros, a famous Mexican muralist. Martin and Jacobus share that he fought during the Mexican Revolution and possessed a powerful political sensibility, much of which found its way into his art. (Martin & Jacobus, pg 7, 2018). Echo of the scream was produced on enamel on wood medium. One of the reasons why this painting caught my attention is because the description in an image of what art is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination.” (Lumen Learning, n.d).In this painting, the artist is expressing sadness and pain. As you can see, art can bring up different emotions that can be perceived through art. This piece of art has helped me to understand that we express our emotions in different ways. I don't know what David Alfaro Siqueiros was going through when he created this painting; he probably was going through something harrowing while working on this art piece. He probably saw a lot since he was in the military. This may have contributed to the way he
