SHADOW HEALTH COPD STATEMENTS DEBBIE O CONNOR
Debbie O'Connor I'm having so much trouble just trying to breathe. And I've had these terrible coughing fits. A few days ago, a bronchospasm. My health is going downhill fast . . . I know it has to do with my smoking habit. It's so hard to kick. I was hoping I could get something to help me. Your avatar being unable to breath is a scary feeling, I'm sorry you have been experiencing this but hopefully today we can get you feeling better. Empathize 01/21/21 2:26 PM CST Debbie O'Connor I had the bronchospasm three days ago. It happened after I smoked a cigarette. Normally I cough a little after I smoke, but three days ago it felt like the coughing just wouldn't stop. I felt like I couldn't breathe. It scared me pretty bad. Ever since then I can't seem to catch my breath. Your avatar I'm sorry you are feeling anxious over your health conditions, with the right therapy and quitting smoking, you can start to feel better soon Empathize 01/21/21 2:30 PM CST Debbie O'Connor My breathing problems sure aren't helping my social life any. I was never exactly a social butterfly, but now I'm not up to going out. Even normal things--shopping, picking up my meds. Your avatar You are correct in that quitting smoking will help improve your COPD symptoms Educate 01/21/21 2:36 PM CST Debbie O'Connor I've been diagnosed with COPD. It's chronic bronchitis. Hard as heck to breathe. I know my smoking habit makes it worse, too. I've thought about oxygen, but since I smoke, I'd blow myself up. (Clarified to what health problems I have.) Your avatar You are correct that you cannot use home oxygen while you continue to smoke, however once you quit oxygen can help relieve some of your symptoms Educate 01/21/21 2:39 PM CST Debbie O'Connor I think I'm up to date on all of my shots . . . but I'm not really sure. I don't really keep up with them. I figured at my age I don't need any more vaccines. Your avatar because your respiratory tract is already at risk for infection and is already compromised it is very important for you to receive the annual flu vaccine and a pneumonia vaccine every 10 years. These vaccines could help prevent severe illness. Educate 01/21/21 2:46 PM CST Debbie O'Connor I started smoking when I was 15. I've smoked for a long time. Had a little success quitting. I stopped for ten years when my daughter was born. But, I picked up the habit again. I've tried quitting since my husband died, but . . . it's hard. Your avatar Im sorry that you lost your husband, that must have been very difficult Empathize 01/21/21 2:47 PM CST Debbie O'Connor That's very kind. S
