Automaat
De automaat onderbreekt het elektrische circuit als door kortsluiting of
overbelasting een te hoge stroomsterkte in een groep of installatie ontstaat. Bij
een plotselinge hoge stroomstoot (kortsluiting) geschiedt het uitschakelen
nagenoeg zonder tijdsverloop door een elektromagneet. Bij overbelasting vindt
uitschakeling plaats door middel van een bimetaal.
