The case study focuses on Ms. Perez a Puerto Rican Woman struggling with Comorbid Addiction commonly referred as an “embarrassing problem”. The woman is 53 years old with major complaints that she is struggling with co-morbid addictions of gambling and alcoholism. The woman claims that she had received treatment for excessive use of Alcohol in various rehabilitation centers in the past. However, being a close neighbor in a popular casino and an area with many alcohol joints, the treatment is of little help because while gambling, she uses alcohol to be high while placing her stakes more so the big odds. According to the patient, gambling has negatively affected her social and economic life including her marriage life (Skinner, 2020). Further, she has borrowed more than $50 000 from her retirement saving account to maintain her habits. Presently, the patient presents symptoms of depression accompanied by somber mood and lethargic look. As such, the main aim of this case study it to analyze possible treatment options for this patient and solve the addiction challenge. The above case analyzes three main cases that may be adopted in order to offer effective treatment to the patient and explore some of the ethical issues concerning the treatment of Ms. Perez.
