The Promotional Mix Linked to My chosen Company
This document will highlight the role that the promotional mix has in regards to my chosen business
which is Nestle Shreddies. Alongside this, it will also highlight how each element of the promotional
mix which consists of Product, Price, Place and Promotion and how the packaging help Nestlé
Shreddies promote its products.
Nestlé Shreddies
What do you understand by the role of the promotion mix and how is this linked to your
product/service
This can be defined as when a business or organisation use specific promotional methods in order to
communicate with their chosen target market and to promote their product which in the case of
Nestle is Shreddies cereal. They use promotional methods will inform their chosen market of the
product or keep them reminded of it so they buy it. Alongside this, this also creates brand awareness
as the Nestlé brand is promoted thus customers, people or organisations that may see the Shreddies
cereal being promoted may also have a look at Nestlé’s other products. The use of promotional
methods also influence the organisation or people that see the adverts to have a positive feeling
towards the brand; Nestle and its products such as the Shreddies cereal & helps the brand keep a good
relationship with people or organisations involved in the marketing sector.
Also, the TV advertisements also use bright colours that attract the target market into looking at the
TV advert The role of promotion also helps the business which in this case is Nestlé Shreddies stop
rote their product via TV advertisements which has a large audience thus getting to the chosen target
market much quicker leading to product and brand awareness. Nestlé Shreddies could also use
billboard to promote their cereal; billboards tend to be on busy road thus have a large audience just
like the TV advertisements to the target market can see the cereal being promoted. Again, billboards
also use bright colours and big fonts that attract people that are driving past and often have a caption
on the billboard that tend to stick in the drivers mind or the person who sees the billboard.

The product that I will be looking at is Nestlé Shreddies. Shreddies use many promotional methods
to promote their cereal to its designated target market. They use promotional methods to promote
primarily the features and benefits of the product in this case of their cereal to persuade their
chosen target market to buy it. An example of this can be seen when Shreddies promote their
product by highlighting film characters from kids films; as highlighted with one such packaging
where they highlighted ‘Woody’ from the children’s film Toy story which would appeal to their
chosen market which are children. Alongside this, they also us bright colours that entice their chosen
target market to buy the product. Shreddies also promote their product by adding a free toy or film
character figure in their box which persuades their targeted market to buy the cereal; children will
see the promotion on the box and will want their parent to get them the cereal so they can get the
