Copt Hill Preservation Society (CHPS) Webpage
I’m working for a web development firm and have been given the following brief, with some
comments attached from my boss. This is a fairly flexible project, but the clients are particularly
fussy. I have to use my imagination and try to come up with something that is appropriate.
The Copt Hill Preservation Society:
Copt Hill is a well-known local landmark thought to be a prehistoric burial site. It is topped by seven
large trees know in the region as the ‘Seven Sisters’ which can be seen for miles around.
Archaeological digs completed in the 19th century found evidence of several burials and quite a
number of historic artefacts.
The Copt Hill Preservation Society (the client) aims to maintain and improve the Copt Hill Site. The
Society wishes to encourage visitors by informing people about its importance as a site of historic
interest. Educational materials are felt to be a good idea and a new membership scheme, the ‘Friend
of Copt Hill’ is envisaged.
It has been decided that a website would be a good way of promoting the activities of the society and
reaching a broader audience. Perhaps such a website would encourage many more visitors from
aboard.
Planning the web site
Home Page
Needs to be attractive, atmospheric and interesting. Must have photograph of the ‘’Seven
Sisters’’ on the Copt Hill. Will have a navigation are linking the other pages of the site.
About page
Will show largely text about the Copt Hill, its history and the story of the 19the century
excavations. Various artefacts photographs that were found on the site must be shown.
Events page
Mainly text about current activities or future events.
Friends Page
This will be a text-based page describing the hopes and plans for this group.
Contact page
Text-based details of how to contact the society, meeting times/dates of the friends groups,
how t make a contribution and a feedback from which can be mailed to the officer of the
society.
Complying with all the requirements set by Copt Hill Preservation Society, I have created a
website for them in correspondence to their aims and objectives. While creating each page I was
doing a log of references and explanations of how each page I’ve created is going to help Copt Hill
to deliver the importance of existence and preservation of prehistoric burial sites like ‘’Seven Sisters’
‘to the world’s broad masses.
