,Introduction:

Chromatography is an analytical technique used to separate chemical
mixtures into their components for analysis.

The separation can happen by various properties, such as size, charge,
hydrophobicity, and other properties.

There are many ways and methods to carry out chromatography,
however, all of them work on the same principle, where you will find all
forms of chromatography have a stationary phase, and a mobile phase.

A stationary phase is a solid material that absorbs the mixture flowing
through it, and a mobile phase is a liquid that transports the substance
mixtures through absorbing material which travels along with the
stationary phase and carries the components of the mixture with it,
whereas the different components will travel at different rates.

The simpler form of chromatography is paper chromatography, which is a
technique, that involves a stationary phase which is a paper and a mobile
phase which is the solvent.

The chromatography that will be carried out in this experiment will be an
ascending chromatography where the solvent moves upwards, rising by
capillary action, while the components in the mixture will rise at a rate
proportional to the partitioning into the solvent.

The different components travel at different rates, which results in the
dots showing up on the chromatograph at different distances
